You know the feeling where you just NEED a holiday but don’t have the time to take one? Sometimes, the best locations are right under your nose, and that’s why we’ve created a list of awesome getaways no more than two hours out of Sydney!
Gerroa
Gerroa is one of our favourite places to visit when we need a short trip away from our crazy lives! Just under two hours away from Sydney, it’s home to 7-mile beach and some great lakes and camping grounds to get stuck into! You’ll enjoy the entire ride there because the scenery is outstanding. Beaches, mountains, blowholes and more, Gerroa has a lot to offer for your next beachside getaway!
Umina Beach
Umina Beach is a great location for a short trip out of Sydney. Only one hour and 15 minutes out of Sydney, this location has amazing beaches, waterways, and animals to see. Head to the Brisbane Water National park for an exploration, or interact with animals at the Australian Reptile Park in Gosford.
Coledale
Coledale is approximately one hour and 15 minutes south from Sydney and offers a range of accommodation, including beachfront camping sites. There’s a beautiful fire spot on the beach for some afternoon enjoyment, and not to mention a blood pumping hike up Sublime Point for spectacular panoramic views of the region. In summer or in winter, Coledale will show you how to reset your mind and disconnect from the world for a few short days.
Emu Plains
Close to the Blue Mountains, Emu Plains is the destination perfect for someone sick of the seaside. You’ll head inland and be surrounded by bushland and forests, all ready to be explored. The Great River Walk has some great views to offer, or if the weather isn’t too good, head to the Museum of fire.
Hawkesbury River
The Hawkesbury River is just under an hour away from Sydney and has multiple options for accommodation. Camping sites, cabins, and hotels are just a few of the ways you can spend your getaway. Either way, you’ll be along the beautiful Hawkesbury River with bushland around you. With the option of multiple hiking paths, canoeing on the river and diving into pools, this is a destination you won’t forget!
Bowral
Maybe you’re wanting a holiday filled with flowers, museums, waterfalls, and typical Australian pubs? If this sounds like you Bowral is the place! Bowral is only one hour and 35 minutes away from Sydney and is famous for its colourful gardens and cricket history. The International Cricket Hall of Fame is something all people, cricket fan or not, will enjoy. Bowral has been named a rural retreat for Sydney’s high-class people.
