Leisel Jones All I Sea

She’s an Olympic gold medal champion, has an OAM, written an autobiography and has even had a stint on reality TV. And now Syneysider, Leisel Jones is the co-founder of a new active swimwear brand, All I Sea. We caught ups with her by the beach to find out her favourite healthy Sydney haunts!

So Leisel, what’s your favourite beach to swim at? I’d have to say Austinmer Beach. It’s away from the massive crowds at Bondi and it is just so beautiful. It can be a little rough in the water sometimes but it’s very nice to swim in.

And the best surf beach in Sydney? I don’t really surf, but I love watching the surfers on the Northern Beaches. I’m going to learn this summer.

Where is your favourite outdoor gym?
Bondi outdoor gym (above). It can get pretty busy at times but why wouldn’t it with a view like that? I love being able to do a quick circuit in my All I Sea gear and then jumping straight into the water afterwards. Win!

98-Riley St Gym Sydney
What about the best indoor gym?
Definitely 98 Riley St, Darlinghurst (above). I just love everyone at 98. Their attitude and knowledge of training is top notch. Everyone is so fit and they challenge me everyday to get fitter. That and also I can’t keep up if I’m not fit enough!

In your opinion, what’s the most underrated Sydney attraction? The short Hermitage Foreshore Walk in Vaucluse. So stunning!

Where do you go for a healthy brunch?
Proteini Darlinghurst (above). Best paleo pancakes ever! I love that I can take my step dad there who has a lot of dietary requirements yet they cover them all with delicious food. It’s a ‘blink and you miss it’ cafe but it’s well worth it to try their paleo bowls.

What’s your go-to post workout snack? Avo on toast with poached eggs (of course!), because I usually workout in the morning and therefore it’s brekky time.

Where is the best day trip for hiking?
The 6.5km Wodi Wodi track in Stanwell Park. I probably shouldn’t give it away but it is one of the best walking tracks in Sydney. So tropical; it’s perfect on a hot day.

And a running route you recommend to friends? I’m not a very good runner but I do like the Bondi to Bronte walk.

And lastly, the best Sydney fitness event? City2Surf is a lot of fun. I have done it a few times and loved it but I do like to be really fit and train for it.
