Sydney Fitness Scavenger Hunts

Sit ups, planks, squats… sure, repetition spells muscles but it also spells b-o-r-e-d-o-m.

If you’re looking to shake things up a bit, local company Secret Cities has just launched a series of scavenger hunts that combine fitness with exploring. The first one is in Redfern this weekend, followed by Newtown (7th July), Darlinghurst (14th July), Bondi (11th August), Manly (8th September), Chippendale (22nd September), Balmain (29th September), Parramatta (3rd November) and Surry Hills ( 17th November).

Sign up on your own or as part of a team and  you’ll be running around the city taking photographs, building human pyramids and basically reenacting the Amazing Race with each challenge. The bonus? You can explore your own neighbourhood (or a completely new one) and burn calories at the same time. Win-Win.

And did we mention you get a trophy if you win? A big shiny one the will look awesome on your bookcase.

What to do Sydney Fitness

Founded by Sydyneysider (via the UK) Chris Rayment, Secret Cities is fast growing in reputation for being one of the best ways to explore the hidden side to Sydney, meet new people and have a fair bit of fun at the same time. The company runs regular suburb-specific scavenger hunts (sign up to their newsletter for details) and they have just announced two hunts ‘with a difference’ in December.

Starting with the Potts Point to Woolloomooloo on 1st December, the roving hunts will start in one part of the city and take you all the way to another. If the coast is more your style, sign up for the Randwick to Coogee hunt just before Xmas on the 18th December. Then celebrate with a cheeky bevvie afterwards at the beach!
