Each session lasts just 30 minutes – perfect for anyone who’s short on time but wants maximum results. The workouts mix low-impact Pilates and yoga-inspired movements with the fat-burning power of infrared heat. We’ll be honest: it’s hottie, hot, hot in there (40°C to be exact). We felt the wall of heat hit us before we even stepped into the room. Five minutes in, we had sweat dripping from our fingertips.
Suitable for all fitness levels (just check with your GP first), JIM the virtual coach demonstrates every movement, offering modifications based on your ability. Unlike traditional gyms, which can make you feel self-conscious, J.I.M studios are dark and mirror-free, creating an inclusive, judgment-free space where you can focus entirely on how you feel, rather than how you look. This helps you connect with your body and immerse yourself in the workout without distractions.
TIPS:
- Stay hydrated: As with regular infrared saunas, it’s essential to stay hydrated both during and after your workout. We found ourselves extra thirsty, compared to our normal fitness routine and drank about twice as much water. BYO water bottle, there’s a water station to refill there.
- Dress light: Choose light, breathable activewear – shorts and a sports bra are ideal. Avoid long leggings, as the heat kicks in fast.
- Bring a sweat towel: A mat towel is provided, but you’ll want a small sweat towel to keep yourself dry during and after.
- Plan ahead: J.I.M studios don’t have showers, and you will sweat – a lot. You’ll leave absolutely soaked (including your hair and forget about wearing any makeup). Consider scheduling an after-work class if you can’t shower right after.
