Dog walks Sydney

Dogs. Doggos. Pooches. Canines. Pups. Is there anything better than spending time with a dog? Especially if you can explore Sydney and get your heart rate up at the same time… it’s multi-tasking at its best!

We asked the guys from pet care experts, Rufus & Coco, to share their fave dog friendly walks in Sydney and this is what they came up with:

THE LAKESIDE CIRCUIT: Lake Parramatta Reserve
Swap the beach for the bush at beautiful Lake Parramatta Reserve. There are three different walking tracks to choose from but the best one for pooches is the Lake Circuit, which runs 4.2 km and has fun, varied terrain for your dog to enjoy. There’s BBQs and a swimming area too if you want to make a party of it.

THE LAGOON LOOP: Narabeen Lagoon Trail
Further north, the Narabeen Lagoon Trail is a gorgeous, if not slightly lengthy 8.4km walk if you do the full loop. There are five main walks so it can be divided up if you don’t want to spent too long there. The five walks you can cover include: Middle Creek to Bilarong Reserve (2.2km), Bilarong Reserve to Berry reserve (1.2km), Berry Reserve to Jamieson Park (1.5km), Jamieson Park to South Creek (2.3km), South Creek to Middle Creek (1.2km).

One of Sydney’s most iconic walking tracks, the Bondi to Bronte walk takes you across coastal sandstone cliffs to or from Australia’s famous Bondi beach. There’s always tonnes of dogs on the pathway, so your pooch will make lots of friends. A 1.5 hour walk in total, your pup will get a healthy work out. Just don’t forget to bring water.

THE NATURE HIKE: Bidjigal Reserve
Another lush rainforest walk, the Bidjigal Reserve near Baulkham Hills, has beautiful walking tracks and is perfect for summer walks. From a shorter 1.7km loop on the Platypus Track, to a 3.5 hour, 8km walk on the Yanna Track, accessing rainforest and river flat areas, get back to nature with your pup.

Up on the Central Coast, the Strickland Falls walk within the Strickland State Forest runs 1.7km return, or roughly 45 minutes. While the falls themselves may not be the most impressive you’ve seen, the surrounding bushland, complete with boulders and palm trees makes for a fun day trip.
